Wow. Have you ever tried to rebuild a house? Daunting. Have you ever tried to do it with two small kiddos? Now things are getting interesting!

Belly Watch 2009

Jed is on assignment at another PWC office this week so the torch has been temporarily passed to me to update the blog. Here I am at 23 weeks, painting the nursery...with VOC-free paint, of course. The belly is definitely growing. I've had to retire another pair of pre-maternity pants this past week. I'm still holding on strong to two pre-preggo pants, with the help of the life-saving belly band. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you should google it. It's wonderful. Jambi has been kicking away these days. She's very active...getting ready to start kicking the soccer ball.

Creating a nursery

This weekend Jed, Ryan and I worked on preparing the nursery. We decided to forego the pastels and went straight for the deep rich colors (Not for the faint of heart). The orange was a little intimidating when it was the only color on the wall. But, we dig it as it is very Seuss-ical (as in Dr. Seuss). Since we are running behind in our posting schedule, I thought I'd just post some photos of the work in progress. In addition to the crazy orange paint, check out Jed's dream team jersey that he's held onto for foreva. Also, note the blue bathroom that Ryan is painting in... My favorite thing about the bathroom is the blue toilet (heavy sarcasm).

As for the nursery, we still need to do the trim, paint and install the new doors we bought for the entry and the closet, install the window coverings, and decorate it. It's coming along...and will hopefully be complete by next weekend. We'll keep you all posted!

Monday - Weekly Update

Looks like somebody has a case of the Mondays! (2 days ago!) Well, this has been a pretty laid back week. We had a great time at the DC United Game on Saturday, went out with some friends afterwards, tons of fun. We got started on some major renovations in Jambi's room, so hopefully those will be done within the next couple of weeks, and be featured on a 624 Come alive post in the coming weeks. Well, sorry for not having pictures from the weekend, but trust me, it was a blast!

624 Come Alive: The Living Room

So, I know that today is not Wednesday, but today we will be featuring Wednesday's post.

Today we will look at the living room. As you can see by the before pictures, there was a lot of work that needed to be done in our dated living room in our 110 year old house. There was a not very white white on the walls, there were a hideous pink shag carpet on the floor, and under the shag carpet was a layer of linoleum tile, followed by a layer of tar paper.

We stripped out the carpet, chiseled out the tile, and steamed and scraped up the tar paper. Once that was done, we sanded the floors, stained them, and then hit with a polyeuretahne coat.

Amazing that the floor could go from that to this!

Then we patched cracks in the wall, and painted a nice shade of Nevada blue (go wolfies!). After that, we custom built in shelving and decorated to taste (actually we just put the furniture we already had into the room in ways that don't actually fit, but hey, who's counting.)

Hope you enjoy our living room as much as we do. Tune in tomorrow for our first installment of "belly watch '09!"

Special Bulletin -Reno ACES ARE AWESOME!

So, when we were back in reno, we tried out this new thing they have called "Reno Aces Baseball." It was tits. Triple A Baseball in Reno, great little ballpark, a team that could beat our hometown Washington Nationals, and good fans and attendance to boot (not to mention some pretty sharp uniforms - even the Two is a fan!). Good Job Aces, I look forward to my next game at Aces park!

Monday - Weekly Update

Well, this has been a crazy week. We returned from an enjoyable trip to Nevada last week, saw (most of) our folks, saw some friends, had a great baby shower, got some pictures of Jambi, etc. Hopefully we can dig up some pictures of the baby shower and put them in a special bulletin.

However, most recently, we had my law school roommate in town, and we had a blast. Friday night was just hanging out and catching up, but Saturday we headed up to Baltimore for an Orioles' game at Camden Yards (always a blast, great stadium) where we met Sean and Priya and partook in an extra inning (FREE BASEBALL!) affair between the Orioles and the Blue Jays.

Then on Sunday, Tiffany and I spent a quiet day at home in the morning, doing work, taking a nap (pregnancy is exhausting!) and headed out for a round of mini golf at the new H Street Country Club around the corner from our house. This place is awesome. Skee Ball, shuffle board, and pool tables downstairs, with appetizers and a bar menu being served downstairs, with a full 9 hole mini golf course upstairs with holes designed around the various attractions of D.C. (making light of them no less) and a full restaurant menu upstairs. The golf was awesome (only $4 on Sunday!) and the dos equis were crisp (only $3 on Sunday!). It was awesome. Capped the night off with some corn and chicken on the new bbq. Good day. The course was tons of fun, that's me with a Darth Vader gargoyle on the "national cathederal" and that's tiff with the look alike K Street Lobbyists. Hilarious. Hope everyone has an exciting week - I hope we have an exciting week so that there will be something legendary to write about next Monday!

Special Bulletin - 20 Week Pictures!

Well, we have passed the halfway mark, and the
pictures indicate that our baby is happy, healthy, and a LITTLE GIRL!!! How exciting. Oh, and for those of you who didn't want us to tell you what we were having, you shouldn't have read this far. Enjoy the pictures, and we hope to have some more special bulletins posted either today or tomorrow!

P.S. Sorry these scans didn't come through as clear as they are in person!

NEW SCHEDULE!

Ok, so we've been lax on the postings. Sorry, it's been hectic around the bodger house lately. Well, we're going to fix that. We are going to start a new schedule of postings with "special bulletins." So here's the new schedule -
  • Sunday or Monday - News of the week: what's been going on in the house, who's come to visit, a general weekly wrap up of all things D.C. Bodger.

  • Wednesday - 624 Come Alive: this will be a weekly installment of house related stuff. Either before and after pictures (like those of the exterior below) or projects that need to be done, or requests for suggestions as to what exactly should be done with a certain space. But Wednesdays are all house related!

  • Friday - BELLY WATCH '09!: this will be just what it sounds like. A weekly view of the ever burgeoning belly (a.k.a. the baby shed!). Unless of Course I don't get into the gym, then it may be a compare and contrast of the two bellies.

Thanks for visiting, there will be some postings today, but we are going to generally try to adhere to this schedule. Tell your friends to stop by, and we would love to hear from all of you in the comments section!
